Tips for Sorcery Imports

Set Identification

Sorcery uses edition names:

  • Alpha - First edition

  • Beta - Second printing

  • Dragonlord - Mini set

  • etc etc …

Collector Numbers

Important: Sorcery cards do not use collector numbers like other TCGs. Instead, use the Variant field for proper identification:

  • Cards are identified by name + expansion + variant

  • No three-digit numbering system

  • Variants are the key to distinguishing identical cards

Card Variants - Critical for Identification

Since Sorcery doesn't use print numbers, variants are essential for proper card identification. Use these values in your CSV:

Variant Types:

  • Booster - Standard booster pack cards

  • Promo - Promotional releases

  • Preconstructed Deck - Cards from starter/theme decks

  • Store Kit - Store promotional materials

  • Draft Kit - Draft-specific cards

  • Pledge Pack - Kickstarter backer rewards

  • Box Topper - Special cards included with booster boxes

Why Variants Matter:

  • Same card name can exist across multiple variants

  • Different variants have different values

  • Ensures accurate card identification

  • Critical for proper inventory tracking

Example: "Sorcerer" might exist as both a "Booster" card and a "Pledge Pack" card in the Alpha expansion - specify which variant you own.

Elements and Thresholds

You don't need to specify:

  • Element types (Fire, Water, Earth, Air)

  • Threshold requirements

  • These are detected automatically

Common Sorcery Import Issues

Alpha vs Beta Confusion

Same card exists in both editions:

  • Specify "Alpha" or "Beta" in expansion field

  • Values differ between editions

  • Alpha generally more valuable

Elemental Sites

Sites (land-type cards) should:

  • Be imported like regular cards

  • Use collector number when possible

  • Element type detected automatically

Missing Variant Information

Same card name without variant specification:

  • Must specify the correct variant

  • "Sorcerer" could be Booster, Promo, or other variants

  • Values differ significantly between variants

  • Always include variant for accurate identification

Token Cards

Tokens generated by spells:

  • Usually not added to inventory

  • Focus on the actual spell cards

  • Some collectible tokens may be imported

Sample CSV Format

Here's an example of a properly formatted Sorcery CSV:
